On Saturday September 28th, Virginia Kappa hosted its 4th annual Balanced Man Scholarship Banquet. The purpose of this banquet is to find and recognize the best and brightest freshman and sophomore men at Virginia Tech. With the help of the BMS Committee and a dedicated group of interviewers, our chapter was able to conduct over 100 interviews over summer and the first few weeks of September. After a series of interviews, finalists were selected based on their embodiment of the ideals of sound mind and sound body.
This year, our chapter granted four $1,000 scholarships to the men who most exemplified the concepts of the Balanced Man and arete. At the banquet, brothers, finalists, alumni, and chapter volunteers gathered to celebrate the finalists and their successes.
A special thanks to brother Andrew Young for his live music performance, as well as keynote speakers Abbey Rowe Erwin, Muhannah Hossain, and Tim Laboy-Coparropa.
