Last Friday, the brothers of Virginia Kappa hosted a barbecue for this year’s Balanced Man Scholarship applicants in the Main-Eggleston quad in front of Owens food court. This gave the brothers an opportunity to have wholesome interactions with some of the most impressive men on campus. Many of these men are freshman who are still looking for where they belong at Virginia Tech. Events like these display the warm and welcoming community that SigEp has to offer. It is a place where they can surround themselves with men who are as driven and passionate as they are.
So far, over 130 men have applied for the Balanced Man Scholarship. In the coming month, the BMS committee will be working nonstop to review these men’s applications, conduct interviews, and host more events like last week’s barbecue. All of this is leading up to the BMS banquet on September 28th in the Squires Old Dominion Ballroom, where the chapter will award four $1000 scholarships to the men who most embody the cardinal principles of Sigma Phi Epsilon in their everyday lives.
