In our partnership with Virginia Tech Dining Services, Flex Out Hunger has raised over $25,000 for the Montgomery County Emergency Assignment Program, and more than $8,000 for the Student Emergency Fund. During our philanthropy week, each brother put in copious amounts of time, tabling all around campus in order to collect dining dollars from fellow students.
In addition to tabling, we hosted an ultimate frisbee event that involved other school organizations, and we rented a dunk tank to encourage people to donate money and
potentially sink us in some cold water. We are grateful for all the hard work that was put in and for the Hokies that donated to our cause, helping us fight food insecurity
and support our local communities.
Furthermore, our brotherhood raised an additional $12,000 by participating in other organizations’ philanthropies. These include Delta Chi’s fundraiser for the V Foundation in Cancer Research, Alpha Delta Pi’s support in Ronald McDonald House Charities, Zeta Tau Alpha’s Crown Classic for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness, Kappa Kappa Gamma’s fundraiser for the NAMI and JED Foundation in support of mental health, and finally Alpha Chi Omega’s Take Back the Night philanthropy in support of New River Valley Women’s Resource Center.
