With the conclusion of the Spring ‘23 semester, there’s still much work ahead for the always-on-the-move undergrads. From August 2 – 6, four of our undergraduate brethren will be attending the Grand Chapter Conclave in San Antonio, TX. This event, as it has been held for decades, is an opportunity for SigEp chapters across the country to gather in one spot and to connect. Personal and professional development workshops are held each day, with recognitions in the form of awards are given out to chapters with outstanding performance. One award category in particular, the Buchanan Outstanding Chapter Award, commonly referred to as a “Buc Cup”, recognizes chapters who are in the upper tier of performance amongst all SigEp chapters across the country. It is our belief that the undergraduates will be bringing home our first Buc Cup award in over two decades. Best of luck to our Conclave-attending brothers, and let’s bring home that Buc Cup!
After years of anticipation and extensive collaboration between the undergraduates and AVC, the Oak Lane chapter house will be reoccupied by our chapter this Fall ‘23. In communication with the university, the Cook Counseling Center, having been the most recent occupant of the house, moved out the remainder of their belongings back in late May. The AVC will be supporting a soft move-in in the near future, which will involve moving furniture and chapter-owned house amenities which have been kept in storage since the Fall of 2017. Between now and the start of the Fall ‘23 semester in August, the Virginia Kappa AVC is working to support the transition back to the Oak Lane chapter house in both fundraising and accommodating the various wants and needs of the undergrads. As with any move-in process, new purchases will need to be made to make the house a true home for all brothers, whether living in the house or stopping by for a visit.
