What is "Flex Out Hunger?"
To tackle our community's issue of food insecurity, the local chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon pairs up with both Virginia Tech Dining Services as well as the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program (MCEAP) each Spring. This is a campus-wide fundraiser directed at providing food for low-income families in the New River Valley, and students at VT.

At the end of every Spring semester, the leftover meal plan credit on a student's Hokie Passport does not roll over into the Fall. In order to make the most of their excess, students tend to buy-in-bulk, miscellaneous items which the dining halls sell (i.e.- packs of Gatorade and candy). But what if there was a way to make a more significant contribution to the community with that money? Great news - there is!
This year, with many students not having access to on-campus dining due to Coronavirus restrictions, the meal plan donations are likely to be slim, so much of our donation base has disappeared. In order to combat this, we are launching a large social-media fundraising campaign, to maximize our contribution to the MCEAP Food Pantry! You can donate here. Every dollar you send will help to feed a family in the New River Valley this upcoming year!
